phoenixanime  > JACON > JACON 2009 > Animusical Idol
The Animusical concept, first conceived by Wasabi Anime and presented at JACON back in 2005 was quite simply amazing. The mix of beloved anime themes with familiar Broadway musical numbers was an electrifying combination. It was a feast for the eyes and ears. The amount of work required to pull off such a professional presentation must have been prodigious. That being the case, I can entirely understand why they changed the format for the last two years to that of an Animusical Idol. This allowed other fans to share in the limelight, and also allowed the WA crew to offload the tremendous rehearsal workload. The rather minor downside was a small drop in the overall quality of the material. But that's OK, because there was still some incredible acts here.
